Little bunches of sweetpeas are one of the most intricate things I’ve ever made. They’re small but super detailed. Each stem has layered, ruffled petals shaped carefully by hand, along with the soft curves and twists that make sweetpeas so CUTE. I’ve kept the stems made from quite soft wire so they sort of flop about in the way sweetpeas can do. They’re not really supposed to be super upright - hope you get me!
This listing is for 3 stems together. Approx 25cm ea? These will be super fun to style in a vessel.
Description
This work is handmade in New Zealand from hundreds if not thousands of Japanese glass seed beads, paper, copper wire and cotton thread. Each flower begins with detailed studies of real plants, botanical drawings and photographic references. Every petal is woven and shaped by hand, creating a sculptural bloom that will hold its form for years.
Care and Display
Beaded flowers have natural weight, so they sit best in a heavy vase or one with a narrow neck. The stem can be bent slightly into a more organic curve if you prefer. You can also flex and manipulate the petals to look however you like. Please don’t put in water. Not suitable for little children because of tiny parts.
